Mally Bless

Mally Bless was born Marlon Lovemore on December 29, 1982 and was raised in an area known as (Gully) Kingston 8 in Jamaica. At a very early age, many around him, including school mates, realized that Mally Bless was musically inclined and encouraged him to keep progressing in his art. At age 17, he started out in a high school hip hop group named 8 Killaz. At that time hip hop music was dominating the music industry, creating an avenue for Mally Bless to showcase his musical talent. Some of the strong influences at that time were hip hop artists such as 2Pac, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Mos Def, Nas and DMX, just to name a few.

The group became even more musically inclined in merging all of the musical talents and aspirations. It was at that moment Mally Bless came to the realization that music was not just an inspiration to him, it was also an inspiration to other like-minded individuals around him, and they viewed music in the same light as he did. It was at that juncture he decided to explore other genres of music.

As the years progressed, Mally Bless turned to reggae music. It had a major impact on him as it was culturally connected, and it became more about the positive vibe that was drawing him in and the ease with which his lyrics flowed.

Killaz to Sonz of the Most High

Consequently, he proceeded to venture into this genre of music, thereby renaming the group 8 Killaz to Sonz of the Most High. That step solidified the transition from hip hop to reggae and captured the positive energy Bless aimed to deliver. This, in his view, was not being portrayed in hip hop music at that time. Some of the legendary artists that inspired Bless to follow the path he had chosen were: Peter Tosh, Culture, Buju Banton,Richie Spice, Capleton and I-Wayne .

The root of Mally Bless's music comes from his faith and love that he has for the creator (the most high) and the stem is his message which comes from being influenced by some of our most powerful and world renowned Black leaders such as Selassie I, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King to name a few. The message Mally Bless has always aspired to deliver in his music is that of unity, awareness, love and the teaching of the Most High, the divine source of all mankind. Some of the songs created by the group consisted of “Bob Marley”, “Dance with me”, and “I like”. Creatively speaking, in 2008, Mally Bless came into his own and released his first single as a solo artist entitled “What’s Going On” which speaks to different significant social issues. This was followed by “Refill”, “Why Is It” and “Stand firm”, illustrating the versatility that Bless possessed.

always seizing the opportunity

Mally Bless has always seized the opportunity to showcase his passion, or what some may refer to it as his talent. He has performed on several events such as Quebec Reggae Bash, Buss, Rising Stars and more. Mally has had the opportunity to open for several major International Reggae artists such as: I-Wayne, Turbulence, Baby Cham and Popcaan to name a few. When Mally had a single/video release for his single “Reparation” it was a very successful night with an absolute phenomenal performance that left his fans wanting for more.
